Sound tutorial

In this particular lesson we did a sound tutorial using sound track pro this is a music composing and audio editing application which enables us to make and design our own music. The reason why we had to do this is because in our thrillers we won’t be able to use already made music for copyright reasons.

Before we got to actually make our own music we first had to do a computer tutorial it was based on the film casino royal staring James bond. This application was exceptional because there were professional production mixers talking about how it is very important to check for background noises. Also a video about music editing, in this particular part I learnt that sound can guide the audience on what they see which is a really good tool for attracting the audience’s attention. I also found out that music effects for example gunshots, footstep, etc... Have a great impact if you know where to place them correctly as this also guides the audience better.

After the main core of the sound tutorial we had the opportunity to have a clip from casino royal with no audio. We were given the effects, music, and dialogue and we had to place them in the order we felt was accurate on the clip. This particular task was very exciting because it was very realistic and we felt like proper editors.

After the interactive tutorial was over we had know the option to make our own music and effects and add them to our most recent clips which was a really good experience.

This particular lesson was brilliant because when coming to do our sound editing on our thrillers at least we will have the knowledge and skills to develop our sounds and effects.
